Share what you are doing now, where you are stuck, or what you keep returning to. You do not need to sound impressive. A concrete unfinished thought is often more connectable than a polished biography.

Look for mutual effort, not instant chemistry

A promising conversation has reciprocity: both people ask, answer, remember details, and make room for the next exchange. One exciting message is not yet a friendship. Repeated small acts of attention are stronger evidence.

Choose a low-pressure next step connected to the shared interest: compare notes next week, review a small draft, play one game, or exchange a resource and discuss it later. This gives the relationship somewhere real to go.
