    Privacy at a glance

ConnectReal helps you find the person who could help: find people by what they made public or the topics they opened, or write one ask a day and keep listening. There's no feed and no followers.

    What we collect

    • Account details: email, username, and password (stored hashed).
    • Your daily thoughts and the messages you exchange with a match.
    • Basic usage and device data to keep the app working.

    How matching works

Your ask stays private until you send it out. Once sent, it is matched to other people's asks using an automated process, and it is also shown, as a request, to at most three people who opened a topic it lands on or said they are open to connecting. Each of those people gets at most three such asks a week. They see your words and your username, and say yes or not now; you are never told about a not now. Your ask is never made public or searchable.

To understand a search (related words, so "battery thermal" also finds "pack cooling", and the one core word every result must mention), the words you type are sent to our AI provider, Groq, without anything else about you. The reason shown for each person is always one of their own lines.

If you pass your ask on as a link, anyone with the link can read the words. Who asked is never shown on that page.

    How finding people works

Signed-in members can find people by the lines they chose to make public on their S.A.I. profile: role, knowledge, education, credentials, communities and languages, plus location or what they're working toward only if they switched those on. Nothing private in your S.A.I. Mind, and none of your asks or messages, is searchable. Under 18, nothing appears unless you made it public yourself.

You can also open a topic from your S.A.I. desk, for two weeks, a month or three months. Only the topic words, the date it became your focus and the date it closes are shown. It closes on its own, and as soon as it leaves your desk. Opening topics is for people 18 and over.

To reach you, someone sends a short ask with a note, how big it is, and what they can offer back. You say yes or not now; they are not told about a not now. Hide any line on your S.A.I. profile, or close a topic, and it leaves search.

The Open web tab looks for people on the open web, and runs only when you open it. Then your ask's words go to our AI provider, Groq, to plan the search, and to the open sources it picks: Stack Exchange, GitHub, Hugging Face, Hacker News, OpenAlex, DEV, Bluesky, Apple Podcasts, Open Library, and personal blogs through Tavily. Nothing about you is sent. We show only public work with links to each person's own page, take out email addresses and phone numbers, never store anything about the people found, and never contact them.

After a conversation you can say whether it helped. Only the person you answer about sees a count, on their own page. It is never shown on a profile and never used to rank anyone.

    What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not build a feed, follower graph, or public profile from your activity. ConnectReal is designed for one honest exchange a day, not for scrolling.

    Your controls

    • Delete a thought or conversation from within the app.
    • Delete your account and everything tied to it from settings, at any time.
